Encouragement is like Oxygen to the Soul

This year has been brutal and thought provoking. Loss is a loss,no matter how it comes. My Mom said to me one day as we sat on the porch, my face drawn and pensive, the corner's of my mouth turned down. She said," All great loves end in tragedy, either by death or seperation"! I shall never forget that day, it was shortly after she had lost her husband/Poppa to Cancer, most of you know I lost a little one to cancer just three years ago. Even though I know those who have passed over are free from the troubles of this world. The grieving has been long and hard and this month we mark two years since Poppa's passing. Oh , how I miss is quiet strength, and no none sense ways, his ability to take a bad situation and make it better. A man who was simple yet complex, who gave more than he
asked for or expected...I feel his presence and I am trying to be an obedient daughter, as he told me on his death
bed..."Take care of your Mom!"...no one had to tell me that! Yet I knew what he meant...and I stand in his shoes
like a small child flopping around trying to step as proudly as he, and some days I can't get out of bed, because the weight of sadness is to much! That is just one example of losing a friend...yeah he was Poppa, but he was also my friend. And then I think about the friends who have seemed to fade away at a time in my life when it seems that I am finally able to snatch a dream and a star from the sky..."I am grateful" they don't seem to be!
You would always hope that friends and family wish you well in your endeavor's...not always!
I feel hollow inside, one of my friends must have underestimated how truly important they were to me, and now
we don't talk, we don't chat online, we are like strangers now...makes me cry! I felt such a connection with this person...both spiritual and physical, what a gap they left with their departure. But as the saying goes, people come into your life for a season, a reason or for life! I have to reconcile thisin my spirit and find the strength to move on, with some of the most important people in my life, now missing in action. Pray my strength! And remember you might not be everything to everyone but to someone you mean the "World"!
Love in my heart never changes, if I loved you once I will always love you, there is nothing much that I won't forgive.
And nothing I will not endure for those I love...but today, today my heart is heavy, with sadness and longing!

One love, many blessings!

Ian Chang, 'Purpose' is a talented singer who ventured into music at a very tender age.

"I can remember when I would pound desks and sing at school ", he says. Like most Jamaican artistes, Purpose nurtured his singing in church and was encouraged by his mother, while taking his inspiration from legendary Jamaican singers like Garnet Silk, Jah Cure and International Artistes like Michael Bolton and Ray Charles.

A promising and very enthusiatic performer, who has preformed locally as well as on the international stage.

Purpose hopes to leave a positive mark in the music industry. His songs are about the struggles faced in our daily life, they encourages faith and perseverance.

Purpose has a smooth and charming delivery with the most touching lyrics heard in years.
One listen to Purpose and you will see and feel why this artist is destined for greatness.

Currently, Purpose is working on his upcoming album with JABUKEM Music Group producer Alex Martin- Blanken.

It is Purpose conviction to stay true and real and he vows to keep his music positive.

Watch out for Purpose coming at you, with Fresh Music with a Positive Flow.

What is the meaning of your name?

Realizing that there was a call on my life to amplify love through music and seeing that I always try to maintain a conscious and positive outlook be it in my music or my life, I chose the name Purpose which means mandated, convicted. Reggae music needs this type of conviction, a man is only as strong as his purpose, It is my purpose (my mandate, my conviction) to bring back to reggae music a more positive and conscious voice

What does your music bring to the reggae genre?

My music , my songs, brings about the conscience that the genre has yearned for. It's sincere and soul touching lyrics in its truest ,purest and most humble form. My concerns are for the people, the common people, the children, the poor, those suffering, those looking for a way out. Thats what my music brings to the reggae genre, concern for the everyday people not bling bling, flashy videos and big bank accounts , just plain and true concern

Who influenced you? And what is your motivation?

My influence comes from the almighty himself and life, and my motivation again is life ,watching what my music does to people, how it moves and inspires them, along with the joy and fulfillment I get from that. When I hear people singing my songs and enjoying the lyrics (because I write for the young and the old) that motivates me beyond anything else.

What do you see as the future of reggae and music in general?

I see reggae music in the future touching lives and changing mindsets, as long as we realise and embrace the fact that there is a new voice a fresh voice a generation of artiste who are committed to the task then we will see some phenomenal results, but music all is all has a good looking future, music is part of life.

Playing or recording what do you prefer?

I cant play music to save my life so that's easy, I prefer recording, it is very fulfilling to take some words off a piece of paper add music and make a song for all to enjoy.

Please tell the folks what you would like them to know.

That purpose is serious about his music, I'm not fake I mean what I sing. I want to see people loving, laughing, praising, dancing and living. and I am real emotional about my music, but don't tell anyone.
